for release no.4 sudden drop enlisted the talents of russian based recording artist & dj tripmastaz, who has been producing for the likes of morris audio and most noticeably dj sneaks magnetic recordings imprint since 2004. with each release his sound seems to get more defined and mature and our attention which seriously pricked when we first heard his tracks being played on jus-eds radio show. we quickly got in touch and asked for some tracks. first up is >utilized stock sounds<, originally produced in 2003 this melancholic slab of deep techno deservedly finally sees the light of day with a grimy lo-fi feel and enough dance floor nous to work the floor admirably. flip side track >botinko dub< injects a big, cavernous bass line and razor sharp hats n snares.

a surprisingly deep start into the year from flicker main act strich acht! while dorsia is a functional work of monstrous dynamic power. point barrow develops a more sensitive but wide-ranging density.

tin mans voice is infamous, romantic, an expression of love, life and beauty, but also slowly fades away, covered in sleaze. and so is his music, a melodic and rhythmically bass driven art work somewhere in between acid, house, electronica and synth pop. great. don t miss his album perfume which is set to release in spring 2011.

we are happy to welcome a new artist into our family. young jose pouj is one of the new emerging talents from the spanish techno scene. his speciality is hard edged techno, but with a touch of class. a sound carefully crafted and skilfully developed. his blood poisoning ep starts with waken, a scientific techno number with a solid rhythm arrangement, fat basses and sharp synth workout, a funky electronic steamroller designed for body and mind. the b side opens with sepsis, a harder approach to modern techno with a strong drum programming, sweeping drones, an arpeggiated bassline and a bunch of bleeps that appear and disappear throughout the arrangement. an anabolic track that slowly goes to a mental break and turns once more to madness. the release closes with organic return, where the main course is made up of carefully programmed synthetic drums, till an emb-flavoured bassline comes into the track, reminding us of the good old pulsinger style. summing up, this is the work of a great young producer that injects new blood into our label. watch out for forthcoming adventures of this new talent.

normal service is resumed on nu directions, returning to 170bpm with an offering from some of the drum & bass scenes most forward-thinking producers, triad. triad is the name given to german duo henree and basstikal. both established producers in their own right, their meeting of minds has given their productions new depth and a totally original approach to drum & bass. releases on dsm, critical and horizons, plus their excellent remix of omars >lay it down<, have laid the foundations for what is to be a fruitful 2011 for this collaborative project. >crooked< is a shuffling minimal work-out which uses dense atmospheres and growling bass stabs to create a haunting mood, before breaking into its techno fuelled, energy soaked finale. >the puzzle< again captures triads unique ability to create musical soundscapes. with light snappy beats and deep stirring synths creating a track that sounds as fresh today as it will in 10 years time, future music.

forbidden friends is a new band from hutch harris, lead singer and mastermind of the thermals, portlands last great post-pop-punk-power trio. initially conceived as a way for lovers to send hidden messages in plain view (isnt there an app for that?), forbidden friends is now a legitimate, public work of art. the band is at once old fashioned (acoustic instruments, mono mixes), forward thinking (reference-less, incredibly danceable), and timeless (classic lyrical themes of love and desire.)

the second vinyl sampler features the production skills of some very exciting, emerging new artists. first up is deep space orchestra from the uk. having recently caught the eye of gilles peterson and top house imprints like delusions of grandeur, it seems that dsos music is now starting to get the attention that it deserves. andy ash from liverpool is another producer who has been consistently turning out top quality underground house sounds for a number of years now, most notably for the revenges l.e.s.s. edits series. meanwhile, italian producer nicholass blend of disco edits and original 90s house sounds has been creating quite a stir, and has seen his standing as a producer grow weekly with various releases on imprints like small world disco, mo more hits, kojak & dikso already, as well as an increasing demand for remix work.

after the brilliant work with tigerlily on the digitaline track >say so<, gregorythme teamed up again with the lovely singer and created another epic masterpiece. >no time no space< has the potencial to become one of this years big anthems, with tigerlilys great voice, the catchy melody and the unbelievable synthline staying in your head for a long time! kalabrese and lee jones both kept the epic feeling of the original. kalabrese added his unique funk and kind of a caribic touch to it. imagine a lonely beach with nothing else to do as watching the stars out there. lee reworked tigerlilys voice, combined it with a massive bass and takes it a step darker into the night, made for dancefloors and big soundsystems!

manmade is back again with another collection of floor filling club bangers. this time with busta, one of the uprising beat kings from down under, timothy wisdom & the funk hunters, out of canada, with another shining example for unbelievable mashup work, and the well known funky breakbeat builder jayl funk from bavaria. as you expect cmc&silenta did it again with something for the ladies on the dance floor. check out the dynamite side! two versions on here, couldnt decide which one is better, both are killer tunes in different ways.

we are pleased to announce that one of our favourite producers justus köhncke has finally given in to the constant barrage of requests to work with us. yes, welcome to the rank of nang cosmonauts justus. he has kindly agreed to work on a new artist album for us for release in late 2011 / 2012 but in the time being we just had to pop the mans cherry and get some köhncke-tunage released on nang.

new leng act mountaineer bring us their debut 12 inch for the label as a precursor to their album. the remix treatment here is coming from two great teams! on side-a we have the idjut boys giving us yet another genre defying direction with a sumptuously dubby take on golden chalk. this one keeps on building from a delicate strummed intro, with delayed vocals, the track slowly draws you into a deep sea of sub bass and guttural wobbles. the idjuts deft hands once again delivering a lesson in subtlety and arguably one their finest works to date. on side-b tuff city kids rework the always coming home in a wholly different way, fat 80s dub bass, hefty hand-claps and linn drum fills underpin some soaring atmospheric synth work. with the vocals dropped, this is the side for the deep-end of the club, as tcks gerd jansen well knows. a must have 12 inch!

our man francesco grant from italy returns to the mothership with four funky-as-hell tech-house tunes and sure floorfillers on his revolution ep ! he produces his own unique style of cut-ups, field recordings, sampling and packs all into nice kickin? percussions and basslines. his first two releases already made quite an impact on the scene with his still selling first great release body work and his second organic ep.

lnas third release comes from the godfather of the underground all the way from brookyln, new york: namely the legendary jovonn. first tune >a definition of a track< makes use of driving beats combined with ethereal and jazz-like melodies that work together to create a hypnotic atmosphere. second track >space atmosphere< has a more infectious styling, with an ever-progressive melody against a firm groove that grabs the listener and the dance floor. also featuring remixes from the much revered two armadillos, giles smith of secretsundaze and martin dawson (king roc) have turned out a modern classic to nail any peak time dance floor. the second remix comes from the newly formed mankind project. expect more from them this year with two other eps in the pipeline. this ep is something rather special!

after almost a year of only dancfloor related releases dial is back with an outstandingly special record: dirk von lowtzow presents his guitar solo work >tod in theben<. dirk von lowtzow, also known as a member of phantom ghost and tocotronic, creates a slowmotion drone-a-like folk meditation. the result is a breathtaking piece of deepest devotion, an incredible sound and room composition. at last years salzburger festspiele von lowtzow performed >tod in theben< in jan fosses same named theatre piece directed by angela richter.

the next release on claap is a joint venture between two label favourites. on side a, nikola galas >oasy< and >paradise (tool)< are two very tightly structured affairs! perfectly produced and oh so functional, they are another strong proof of the reasons for which nikola has been making waves in the scene for more than a decade. the overall feel in both tracks follows the same path along nikolas previous work on rekids and ibadan records, amongst others, along with releases on his own label escada music. we are also very glad to welcome a long time favourite john dimas. hailing from the beautiful city of thessaloniki in greece, john is a young and aspiring dj and producer who has been working with labels such as d julzs exciting bass culture. john has been steadily making a strong impression with his colourful, solid and passionate dj performances! >get it< is a very groovy, playful and smart track. reminiscent of older chicago house with a fresh touch. to round up the package, label head gummihz offers a disco orientated >get down mix...

the fifth neurhythmics release is a compilation of befriended artists, and this is reflected by the different interpretations of the individuals to what the labels sound is about. juergen provides the a-side with >common sense< a vocal-snippet driven house-track, that once again underpins his sound-aesthetics of having it sound live and mixed on the fly, straight out of the machine. the flip-side could not start off any better. quite possibly a future classic, >signature< by mike binary, has soul and emotion literally squeezed in between each of the effortlessly programmed beats, and has become one the favourite tracks at the neurhythmics hq to ever been put on the label. last but not least, >no other< by the dirty soul project (you will know these guys, but we were sworn to secrecy) firmly pulls the hand brake and slows things down to just over 110 bpm. this doesnt mean that this very hypnotic number isnt going to work in the early morning slots…au contraire, actually...

the labels hiatus is over. a few years have passed and neurhythmics resurfaces after like-minded souls decided to bring it back. juergen junker returns with a 3 track 12inch that stems from a live-set concept he created over the last few months. raw as you like, it takes a distinct bow towards the earlier days of the windy city. dirty, knackered sounding drums, and cut-up vocal bits fused together to a driving force that is hard to resist. the a-side , >unclean mutha< is a definitely x-rated affair that has the jacking feel built right into arrangement. on the b-side, this is suitably followed up by >working her for real<, which is what we want to happen when this is being played in the club. work it, baby..! the second track, >honey< with its camp statement vocals and similar vibe rounds things up for the first part.

another modern classic from be as one is generating consensus from two of the main producers of recent times. after his latest releases on r&s and objektivity and his acclaimed artist album on ovum, shlomi aber returns on be as one with an original work after a long absence on his own label, since the times of the magnificent groundbreaking >sketches< alongsie detroit piooneer kenny larkin. now he does it again with a bang, involving in the project the legendary house stalwart dj sneak, whose been quite busy in the latest years unceedingly preaching the house gospel. abers original version of after touch bares the man own techno trademark, heavy dark funk bass and snares, all looped up with a consinstent drive and shaky groove. dj sneak does his thing on the b side, stomping his trademark sound all along the 10 minutes of the track, bringing the perfect balance to this release with a hoursier version of chunky, raw and old school groove.

somfay makes his debut on detroit underground with four tracks of opiate bliss entitled >bright black borealis< inspired from within the corona of lucid dreams. slowing down the use of his birth name on his work, this is the last record he will release under the name somfay for some time while he focuses on developing his various new projects under several aliases.

one of the west coasts favorite producers meets one of the west coasts leading labels. sfs dj rasoul (soulfood, large, naked music and many others) drops a gorgeous laid-back soulful houser, anchored by a nice vocal and rasoul’s trademark big bass and chunky drums. plenty of mixes to work with here, including the lush main mix, an alternative and a dub. lazy, groovy deep house for those extra sweaty dancefloors.
